Jig Time Counting - Slip Jigs

Now that we’ve got a few standard  jigs under the belt, it’s time to explore the world of slip jigs.

Sometimes called “triple jigs”, slip jigs are based on the same fundamental triplet ideas as a standard jig.

The distinction being that a slip jig has three triplet figures (three beats) per measure as opposed to a “regular” jig which has only two beats per measure.

Although we’re still relying on the same basic rhythmic units as a standard jig (triplet units & quarter note/eighth note pairs), the three beat format of a slip jig results in a much different feel, musically speaking.
